Real-World Applications: Where WiFi 7 Shines

Smart Homes

With the average home now containing at least 25+ connected devices, WiFi 7’s enhanced capacity ensures every device—from smart thermostats to 4K security cameras—operates flawlessly without network congestion.
Think about your phones, laptops, iPads, TV’s, heating systems, cameras, smart speakers, alarms – pretty much most electrical gadgets are now made to use the WiFi in some way. As time goes on, more and more kit will be designed to utilise the WiFi, putting more strain on it.

Home Offices

Video conferencing, large file uploads, and cloud-based applications benefit enormously from WiFi 7’s low latency and high-speed capabilities, making remote work more efficient than ever.
If you’ve got kids in another room using a Playstation, you don’t want this to interfere with your work.

Entertainment Systems

Multiple 4K streams, VR gaming, and smart TV applications run simultaneously without buffering or quality degradation. VR in particular needs a good WIFi backbone – it can’t tolerate buffering or dropped frames, that’s where you get the stop/start from when using. WiFi 7’s multi link operation (MLO) allows the headset to connect across multiple bands simultaneously, providing redundancy and consistent data flow.
Current headsets are pushing 4K but 8K is on the horizon, this will allow room for this expansion.

Commercial Spaces

Offices, retail locations, and hospitality venues can support hundreds of users and devices without performance degradation.
If each piece of equipment in your establishment along with the phones, laptops etc of every one of your clients is using the WiFi, and it’s not up to scratch, you will soon hear about it. Obviously this is not going to lessen as the years go on, it’s only going to increase. WiFi 7 will allow for that increase.

Energy Efficiency: Green Technology

Cambium’s WiFi 7 access points aren’t just faster—they’re smarter about energy consumption. Advanced power management features ensure optimal performance while reducing energy costs, making them an environmentally conscious choice.

So should I upgrade my WiFi 6 system at home?

However if you’re at home and you already have Cambium WiFi 6 access points installed you may not notice much difference in the speed. This is due to how many pieces of kit you have sitting on the system already. If that’s the case then you certainly don’t need to upgrade now but we’d advise calling for a chat first. We can discuss what you’ve got in place now, what you’re using at home and see if it’s worth your while. We still recommend WiFi 6 access points for most domestic installations as at the moment, it’s great technology and works brilliantly. It is worth considering upgrading at some point in the future, so a quick chat is always worth it to settle your mind.
Commercially, depending upon the property, we may recommend upgrading. Again it’s job dependent, your property may not quite need it yet. If you’re in a high device count property like a cafe, hotel, pub or office then it’s definitely worth considering but if not, then your WiFi 6 is probably fine for now. If you’re getting a brand new WiFi system installed, it’s worth considering for full belt and braces. A quick chat will help work out whether it should be something you should consider.
