We’re often called into properties where performance matters just as much as presentation. A recent Starlink installation in Edinburgh’s New Town was a perfect example of this balance — delivering cutting-edge connectivity in a beautiful, high-end tenement property without disrupting its character.
Poorly installed antennas, bracketry and cabling is something that we see all around Edinburgh and they can be a total eyesore so we always aim to make sure our installs are as discrete as possible.
The Challenge
Traditional broadband options in older tenement buildings can be unreliable or limited, especially in areas like the New Town where infrastructure hasn’t always kept pace with modern demands. Our client needed a fast, stable internet connection for both work and everyday use — but with one key condition:
No visible cabling.
With a meticulously designed interior and premium finishes throughout, there was no room for surface-mounted cables or disruptive installation methods. Also planning is a major consideration here, nothing can be left to chance with a zealous Edinburgh council.
The Solution: Starlink
Starlink is a great solution, offering high-speed satellite internet without relying on existing ground infrastructure. The challenge, however, was integrating the system into the property in a way that remained completely discreet. Starlink works best at height so if you can get it nice and high, the signal will be better and stronger. The challenge can be getting it up high, especially on historic buildings where often access can be an issue.
Roof Installation
We installed the Starlink dish securely on the roof of the tenement building, ensuring optimal signal and long-term stability. Positioning is crucial with Starlink, and the rooftop location allowed for a clear, unobstructed view of the sky — maximising performance.
Discreet Cable Entry
Rather than drilling new holes or disrupting the building’s fabric, we identified a disused vent as the perfect entry point for the cabling. This allowed us to bring the connection into the property cleanly and without visible impact to the exterior.
Invisible Internal Cabling
This is where attention to detail really mattered.
Inside the property, all cabling was routed with precision and care:
- Hidden behind kick plates and skirtings
- Concealed within existing cabinetry
- Carefully fished through walls where required
The goal was simple: once complete, you wouldn’t know the system was there.
And that’s exactly what we achieved — a fully connected home with zero visible disruption to the interior.

The client now benefits from fast, reliable internet throughout the property, powered by Starlink — all while maintaining the clean, high-end aesthetic of her home.
